Did you know that Saint Patrick’s Day was based off a person? Saint Patrick had lived during the fifth century who was the patron saint of Ireland. He was born in Roman Britain but unfortunately, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave at the age of 16, but soon he returned to Ireland after escaping and then he began to credit Christianity to its people. You celebrate this tradition by eating green foods such as cabbage, drinks, and anything that has green in it, you could also dress in green, some say if you are to dress in green it gives you “good luck”. People would dress as leprechaun’s during this day as well to get into the traditional spirit.

The biggest celebrations that were held across the United Starts for this tradition are Chicago and Illinois, the parades were held on rivers and on the streets with amazing performances, not only was Chicago and Illinois the biggest parades for this celebration New York City and Boston also had huge celebrations as well.
